Founders Symposium 2023 Program

Mammals! From Mini to Megafauna

As self-respecting megafauna ourselves, it’s only natural to wonder about our tortured journey from shrew-sized dinosaur snacks to world ecological domination. WIPS invites you to attend its 12th Founders Symposium and learn about this fascinating transformation from a cast of paleontological experts. These speakers will explore everything from the mini-mammals that scurried away from the pounding feet of Jurassic dinosaurs, to the amazing post-asteroid mammalian fauna at Corral Bluffs, Colorado, to the rapid diversification and expansion of mammals in a recovering world open to biological innovation. Attendees are even invited to ponder what might have happened if the Mesozoic hadn’t abruptly ended with an asteroid strike.

Two days of talks by paleontologists

• Educational exhibits from Dinosaur Ridge and other organizations

• Fossil displays from our members and museums

• Fantastic paleo art show and sale

• Western Interior Paleontological  Society bookstore

Don’t miss Mammals! From Mini to Megafauna on March 25-26, 2023. It’s a great way to learn while supporting paleontological science through grants and scholarships.
