About the Speakers

Liz Johnson teaches a wide range of sciences at Colorado Northwestern Community College, from biology to chemistry to geology, and serves as the paleontology lead faculty. She also serves as curator of paleontology for the federal fossil repository housed with CNCC and oversees all fieldwork logistics from permitting to research questions. She received her Masters of Science in molecular paleontology under Dr. Mary Schweitzer at North Carolina State University. Prior, she worked extensively in the field with the Museum of the Rockies and Montana State University.

Daniel Snyder received his Ph.D. from the lab of Dr. Chris Brochu. He has published on Paleozoic sharks, the transition of vertebrates to life on land, the evolution of alligators, and teaching pedagogy. Daniel spent 11 years at Middle Georgia State University where he helped develop the Biology major and started the Paleontology Association of Georgia. Recognizing the potential at CNCC, Daniel gratefully accepted a teaching position in 2019. Daniel practices taekwondo and is active in Craig's Rotary Club.
